Of true healthy living

I grew up in Rosenberg, Texas and went on to complete a B.B.A. in Finance from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas (formerly Southwest Texas State University). I am an avid marathoner and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.

I have been passionate about health and nutrition for the last 20 years. I’ve always struggled with my health since I was a child which then culminated into adulthood health problems. Prior to being a holistic health practitioner and nutritional counselor, I had a successful sales career but the toll of being in a stressful, highly competitive industry for many years lead to additional health issues. Tired of the rat race and feeling strung out from the stress, I decided to go on a 4 1⁄2 month soul-searching backpacking trip for which I had to get a number of vaccinations to enter certain countries. Come to find out later, the vaccinations only exacerbated my existing health issues. By age 35, I was on 8 medications, could hardly get out of bed, was putting on weight, suffering from inflammation, not sleeping well, had horrible gastrointestinal problems after eating most foods, migraines, chronic fatigue, and hormonal imbalances.

For months, I visited a number of endocrinologists, thyroid specialists, gastroenterologists, internists, and urologists and was told by all of them that there was nothing wrong with me and that all of my test results were within normal ranges. After each visit I left aggravated, depressed and frustrated because I knew there was something wrong with me and I knew that how I felt wasn’t normal for a 35 year old who tried really hard to take care of herself.

My road to True Healthy Living began when I turned to alternative medicine after a recommendation from a friend and it changed my life forever – finally, I had answers! I was suffering from adrenal fatigue, underactive thyroid which then lead to Hashimoto’s (autoimmune disorder), heavy metal toxicity, candida yeast overgrowth, and a parasite infection. My suspicions were confirmed: the stress from my former career and the vaccinations had affected my hormones and had severely suppressed my immune system.

I felt empowered because I finally had answers and had a game plan to heal my body. My health practitioners explained to me that I could get past this and my body could heal itself. That is when I learned about a holistic approach to health: getting healthy and healing the body is a combination of work on the mind, body, spirit, and most importantly nutrition.

During my road to recovery, I realized what my purpose is: to share my story and knowledge with others to help improve their quality of life and to understand you can naturally heal the body from any ailments.
